In light of April's personalization of learning during the "Teaching Terms" lessons, it seems like a meaningful time to use our monthly poetry packet reflections to discuss the personal impact that poetry has had on your lives. Please follow directions below.
1.) You're at a job interview with your favorite writer/poet/author. Your answers to their interview questions will determine whether you get the job. (This is BIG because you're banking on finally moving out of mom's basement...). Take the interview by posting your responses to questions A, B and C.
A. What three words best describe you?
B. What published poem speaks to WHO YOU ARE? (Post it w/ author's name. Hint: words DO NOT need to physically be in poem--it would be less shallow if it actually didn't...)
C. Picking apart tone, theme, imagery and/or diction, why would you pick this one to say something about you?

March Poetry Packet: Patterns of Rhythm
This month's poetry packet focuses on the art of scansion. Scansion is essentially the separation of poetry into measurable units in order to understand rhythmic patterns.
Your task:
1.) Read over chapter 25 of Bedford's Introduction to Literature on "Patterns of Rhythm" (your packet), annotating and highlighting new information.
2.) Analyze any poem of your choice from the packet and comment on how the rhythmic patterns develop the poet's tone or theme.
3.) Comment on another's posting. Did they discover something you hadn't thought of? Can you add something new to their analysis?
EXPECTATION: 2 posts per student
DUE DATE FOR POSTS: 4/1 @ 12 A.M.

You have read numerous declarations of love, whether it be Marlowe's sweet pastoral or Bolton's contemporary "love" poem to her ex. Which poem conveys the passion and/or turmoil of love best? Defend explaining stylistic devices, tone and author's purpose.

JANUARY Poetry Packet
What is the impact of Shelley's choice to write in the structure of an ode to the wind? Overall, what is his message and was it BEST conveyed through this structure instead of another? Explain. Consider what the wind symbolizes and what his relationship is with the wind.
